David Llewellyn & Ida Kristin

About David Llewellyn & Ida Kristin

In 2008, on the rugged coastline of Sweden, two acclaimed solo artists discovered a creative connection. Put together at a songwriting retreat, a musical journey in its most literal sense was inspired and turned into a finely honed songwriting and performing duo. Now, the Welsh and Swedish duo of David Llewellyn & Ida Kristin issue their debut, Songs Around The Kitchen Table - an exquisite toe-to-toe recording, that breathes intimacy and tenderness.

David & Ida both bring a successful and intriguing lineage to the partnership. Welsh David Llewellyn has spent the last 20 years working in the song writing capitals of Austin TX and Nashville TN. His song Take Us Down - a loving tip of the hat to his upbringing in the coal mining valleys of South Wales - was a Grand Prize Winner of the John Lennon International Songwriting Contest in 2007, and won the Texan Kerrville Folk Festival’s “New Folk” contest. Brazil born Swedish Ida Kristin got a jump-start to her music career, being signed to V2 Records (Virgin) at her very first gig and released her solo debut album Stumble in 2001, featuring alternative country artist Ryan Adams. Critically acclaimed in Scandinavia for her self assured songwriting and distinctive voice, she followed up with the exploratory album Comoção (2005).

Featuring these two artists' trademark dual vocals, harmonies and interwoven guitar playing, Songs Around The Kitchen Table captures the spur-of-the-moment freshness of a live performance.
